Types
- Spark: the first pull of attention.
- Field Note: an observation from inside a rabbit hole.
- Pattern: something that repeats across topics.
- Source: a book, article, video, person, tool, or talk.
- Term: a concept that needs a stable definition.
- Question: an open problem worth returning to.
- Project Bridge: the point where a rabbit hole might become an essay, product, system, or experiment.
Why This Matters
For nonlinear thinkers, the problem is not having too many notes.
The problem is not knowing what kind of note you are looking at.
A spark should not be judged like an essay.
A source should not pretend to be a conclusion.
A project bridge should show where the thinking might go next.
